The Flash, primarily known as Barry Allen, appears in comics published by DC Comics. Created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Carmine Infantino, his first appearance was in Flash Comics #No-1, January 1940.
Barry Allen is a scientist who gains super-speed and other abilities after being struck by lightning and doused in chemicals. He becomes the Flash, fighting crime in Central City.
In his backstory, his mother was killed by another speedster in his childhood.
Powers: Superhuman speed, agility, reflexes, and endurance; ability to time travel and phase through objects.
